It is now the end of week two in EDL/500 Personal Leadership and I have learned a few things about myself, the way I perceive myself, how my colleagues see my strengths and through Strength Finder 2.0 I was given insight to my five top themes of strength.
After taking the Strength Finder assessment my top five themes turned out to be:

1. Developer
People who are especially talented in the Developer theme recognize and cultivate the potential in
others. They spot the signs of each small improvement and derive satisfaction from these
improvements.

2.Empathy
People who are especially talented in the Empathy theme can sense the feelings of other people by imgining themselves in others’ lives or others’ situations.

3.Maximizer
People who are especially talented in the Maximizer theme focus on strengths as a way to stimulate
personal and group excellence. They seek to transform something strong into something superb.

4.Input
People who are especially talented in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.

5.Intellection
People who are especially talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

I found this assessment interesting and helpful. I am hoping that I can begin to work in becoming a leader knowing my strengths instead of concentrating so much on what I felt were weak areas for myself.

I am usually quiet in a crowd but I am constantly thinking. I am often not ready to share my ideas unless they seem sound enough to speak out about. This is something I hope to work towards which is sharing more of my ideas to help my school community come together, I often feel we are very separated and not sharing. I want to be able to be a leader and change that by talking and sharing with more of my colleagues so that we may be able to go forward as a team and not so individualistic all the time.

On My Way

I am a mom of two children that amaze me, make me laugh and make me crazy everyday. I have been teaching for nearly nine years at different grade levels that have given me so much experience in certain areas and a great eagerness to learn and cultivate myself into a leader that can motivate myself as well as those around me to be valuable leaders.
I have started the path to my master's degree in Teacher Leadership. I am excited to collaborate with educators and gain their expertise and advice. I look forward to sharing our experiences to help one another on this path  to personal growth.
